The Library Kids

The Library Kids website has now gone through its third make-over.  It is now directed to this blog/website.  It's been a fun ride the last 6 years.  We'll see what the future has in store for this series.  

Here are some excerpts from the old site:

The Library Kids is a middle grade (ages 8 to 12 and up) book series about a group of children who find a secret, magical library inside the Cave of the Blue Mounds that has the entire history and knowledge of the Earth in the past, present and future. The children can go back in time and meet famous people from the past and travel to any part around the world. However, the children will end up with a mission at the end of the first book. Their mission will be that they must battle the seven Enemies of the Library and defeat the Dark Master that the Enemies answer to. To do this, they must travel around the world to ancient sites and collect a set of twelve crystals that when put together will make a prison for the Dark Master. The children will travel to ancient sites in America, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Ireland, Greece, Mali, Egypt, India, Tibet, and Australia throughout the seven book series. There will be some American history as well as ancient mythology, folklore, and legend in each book. This series is sure to captivate the middle grade audience as well as adults.
Many of the places that are mentioned in the books, are real places that can be visited as well.

It was a fast read, because it is written for children, yet the story held my interest and I couldn't wait to get to the end of the book and see how it ended. I started out with the idea of my series, The Library Kids, after a visit with my family to a cave in Texas.  I combined my interest in mythology and anthropology with this cave and all caves and created The Library Kids series.  Many of the places, I wrote about are real and can be visited.  I created an adventure of visiting many of these places with my family and I intertwined these visits within the series.  But some of the characters I came up with, were quite interesting.  I've painted some simple sketches of some of the characters which helped to solidify the story in my mind.  Here are some of them:

Thoughts on the Last 3 Years of The Library Kids Adventure

This guy was helping me at the Little Boots Rodeo, today.  People had mixed reactions to him.  They either wanted to hug, touch, or punch him. 

 

 

 

In any event, I thought about the last 3 years of my journey with The Library Kids.  I've learned a lot over the last 3 years about self-publishing and my audience.  I've dug deeper into mythology and history because of this series.  I've met some of the most brightest and most intelligent children around.  I could see glimmers of curiosity in their eyes when I told them about the series.  Even the parents were interested.  The people I've been able to share my series with have been shining gems in the world.  I hope I continue to have new readers because there is a story behind the story in my series.

 

The idea for The Library Kids came to me when I took my family to visit a cave in Texas.  From there, my life long interest in mythology and anthropology combined with the magic of this cave and all caves.  The Library Kids was developed over several years and I've worked very hard to get it to the public over the last 3 years.  I had high hopes for The Library Kids and I still do.

Book # 8 of the Library Kids Series

Hello Library Kids Fans,

I want to let you know that I am currently working on book # 8 of the series.  I won't tell you what the name of book #8 is, yet.  I am doing a lot of research and can give some clues about the content of the next book.  I will be looking at clues from the past in Hesiod's Theogony, The Mayan Popul Vuh, The Nordic Poetic Edda, and the Mahabharata and Hindu Puranas.  Writing has started, but I can't tell you when the book will be released.  It won't be for quite awhile.  Here are some interesting videos, I found on Youtube, to get your imagination flowing in the meantime:
