Central American Collars and Egyptian Collars

One thing at the Milwaukee Public Museum that stuck out in my mind is the collar worn by Central and South American men and/or women that is very similar to ancient Egyptian collars.  The following is a picture of collars worn by men of the Eastern Panamanian Guaymi tribe:




Now let's look at some pictures of  ancient Egyptian collars that I took at the Chicago Field Museum:










I find the two types of collars very similar.  Many Europeon men used to wear collars and scarves and then they transitioned to ties.  Perhaps this ancient type of clothing is related across the globe and across time.
