Egyptian Eyes, Eye of Horus, The Lion's Eye

I've always found the style of Egyptian eyes interesting.  It usually involves black eyeliner that accentuates the eye and makes the eye seem larger.  Here is an ancient painting of Isis.  You can see the distinct Egyptian eye style.  It is similar to her son's Eye of Horus.

What is interesting to me, is that the outline of a lion's eye is similar:

The lion was associated with Osiris and Isis.  Cats were seen as protectors in ancient Egypt and lions were a symbol of royalty.
