Symbolism at Shalom Cemetery
I visited a Jewish Cemetery and found a lot of symbolism that surprised me. There was a holocaust memorial that included large tubes and a flamed tube in the middle surrounded by ceramic tiles representing the 12 tribes of Israel. Some of this symbolism also represents some of the ancient gods/goddesses from Greek and Nordic mythology. The entrance to the memorial reminded me of the Emerald City in the Wizard of Oz. The bull is a symbol for Zeus, the unicorn is a symbol for Poseidon, and the coyote/wolf is a symbol for Loki-Prometheus. The pyramids are the 3 great pyramids of Egypt that are in the shape of the stars of the constellation of Orion.
