Thor's Hammer

Ah, what a lovely maid it is! (1902) by Elmer Boyd Smith. (public domain)

Thor had a mighty hammer named,  Mjöllnir. One day the giant, Þrymr, stole the hammer and promised to exchange it for the price of allowing Freyja to be his wife.  The god Heimdallr comes up with a plan when Freyja refuses.  He had Thor dress up as a woman in a bridal's gown and cover his face and pretend to be Freyja to get the hammer back.

Loki goes along with Thor and pretends to be Freyja's maid.  After the hammer was retrieved, Thor revealed himself to the giant.  He takes the hammer and beats the giant and all of the Jotnar.

Again, Thor is the same as the Greek Heracles and Loki is the same as the Greek Prometheus.
