Inti Rami Sun Festival

A yearly festival in honor of the Incan sun god, Inti, is held in Cusco, Peru.  It is celebrated on June 24th.  Many people from the area participate in the celebration of the lengthening of the days as the Earth orbits closer to the sun.  Peru's winter occurs during the summer time of the  northern hemisphere and Peru's summer is from December to February which is the winter of the northern hemisphere.
